Bukky Shonibare is the Executive Director of Invictus Africa, a civic-tech organization that leverages data and technology to drive inclusive policies and programs, equitable resource allocation, and institutional accountability. At Invictus Africa, Bukky leads the development of key datasets, including the annual Womanity Index, Gender Equality Subnational Index, Women’s Representation in African Politics (WRAPs) series, and Women’s Health Index.
Bukky holds a first-class Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Baze University, Nigeria; an Executive Master’s in Managing Peace and Security in Africa (MPSA) from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia; a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Law and Development from the University of Nottingham, UK; and an MSc in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford, UK. She is currently pursuing a Data Science Certificate alongside a PhD in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto, Canada.
Bukky is an Ashoka Fellow, Ford Global Fellow, Mandela Washington Fellow, Malala Fund Education Champion, and Schwartz Reisman Institute Graduate Fellow.
